This interactive and discussion-based workshop will explore things you need to know about culturally competent terminology, life, and experiences of people who identify as transgender. Formatted as a roundtable, this training will allow for rich discussion and will allow time for participants to ask questions and network.
By the end of this training, participants will be able to:
- Define terms and slang relative to transgender people
- Dispel myths about trans people, their culture and community norms
- Explore best practices in engaging with transgender people
- Explore successful support and models
- Discuss the nuances and unique perspective of LGBTQ youth in DC
- Discuss resources available to LGBTQ youth in DC
